Beach Lake Aurora by mikewheels Beach Lake Aurora by mikewheels
The aurora (northern lights) were spectacular a few nights ago and looking to only get better this week. I finally found a spot to view the aurora without many photographers and people shining lights. The only downside to shooting the aurora is that the temperatures are very very cold!

Beautiful! I like how the snowy ground appears to be lit up by the aurora.

Wow - what were the stats on this? I see your ISO was pretty high, was your shutter speed long?

I want to say ISO was 800 and shutter speed was 15-20 seconds

OK. I got a rare lightshow from my daughter's bedroom window when the solar activity hit its peak but it was absolutely NOTHING like what you experienced.

I personally think it's a little too green (too much saturation?) but it's still a great image. I love the composition. It looks like it was taken from close to the ground. Also, I like that you've captured a bit of the glitter of the snow :D

Mike! Great choice in locations - I KNEW this would be a good place to shoot from. I've been telling the Aurora Shooters group members [link] from Anchorage this for a while now. So nice to finally see this!
Beautiful shot!
I'm going to share the link in the group - they will love this photo!

I'm hoping to get up to the Yukon territories next year to photograph the auroras. Just hope they are as good as they have been this year.
